Once upon a time there was a show, the greatest show on earth.  Or that’s what people said when they saw it. And they told their friends about it, and the friends wanted to see it too. And then they told their friends, until eventually everyone in the world had heard of it.

And when the people talked about the show, they always talked about the girl

If you heard them talking about the girl, you’d be forgiven for thinking they had all fallen in love with her. That’s just how it sounded when they talked about her. But none of them knew her name, or where she came from, or what she thought about any of this. They just watched her, and loved her, and wanted to be close to her. And the girl danced, and smiled as though she would never stop, as though this was all there was in the whole wide world.

The dance.

The people.

The show.
